Hyperfocal distance
Definition
Hyperfocal distance H is the closest you can focus and still hold infinity inside the circle of confusion: H ≈ f² / (N c) + f. Focus there and everything from roughly H/2 to infinity is “sharp enough” for that CoC. Landscape shooters use it to keep a foreground rock and a distant ridge both usable. It is a print-size decision, not a property of the lens alone. Recalculate if you crop hard or hang a huge print.
